Before you can import consignment or customer contact files, you will need to create import definitions. An import definition will ensure the data in your file populates into the correct required fields. Simply set this import definition up once for each file type and then use this each time you perform these tasks in the future.
In the Administration tab, select Import Definitions then click Add Definition.
Here you can choose the definition type you would like to create, either consignment or contact; the file type you want to use, and the name of the file. You can also set this as the default import type.
There are three ways you can create an import definition:
- Use the standard template;
- Create a custom template using your own file; or
- Create a custom template using the column mapping tool.
- Using the standard template
You can select to use the standard template, which is available to review and populate with your own data.
- Create a custom template using your own file
If you select Custom Template and click Next, you will navigate to a page where you can configure the file. You will have the option of uploading a sample file which will aid with the configuration.
If you upload a sample file, you will be shown a sample and be able to check that the wizard has put the right data in the right column.
Select Next, and confirm the column mapping to ensure that the source columns from your file match up with the destination field in myFastway. If any are missing or misaligned fields, you can adjust this by selecting the correct option from the drop down and clicking Next. Once you’ve confirmed the import definition is set up correctly, click Save. You can always view the list of imports and edit or delete them.
- Create a custom template using the column mapping tool
To use the column mapping tool, choose Custom Template, select Next and then click Next again at the import screen. This will take you to the tool where you can match up the destination fields with the source columns from your file.
When you are finished click Next, confirm the details on the next page and Save.
